Stouffville Toyota is the newest and greenest auto dealership in Ontario. Don't worry; we still have Toyota cars in just about any colour you want. It's our facility that's green! We've built our Toyota dealership using materials and practices that shrink our carbon footprint and minimize our impact on the environment. In building the Stouffville Toyota dealership, we adhered to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating System„¢ standards to earn our Gold Certification.

WHAT WE'RE DOING DIFFERENTLY

IN ORDER TO EARN OUR LEED® GOLD CERTIFICATION WE USED MANY GREEN INITIATIVES TO MAXIMIZE:

• Water efficiency
• Energy efficiency
• Materials selection
• Indoor environmental quality
• Sustainable site development

So what does all that mean? It means that we've used a solar energy system that tracks the sun throughout the day to maximize our on-site energy generation. We've taken full advantage of natural lighting by using sky lights throughout the facility, and we're lowering our winter heating costs with an in-floor radiant heating system. With these and other initiatives, our energy demands are as much as 71% lower than other dealerships!

We've also reduced our water consumption by 83% by installing cisterns to collect rainwater to be used for irrigation and to feed the Low Flow plumbing system throughout the building.

The building, itself, is made from 25% recycled material, and most of the construction waste was sent for recycling, instead of going to landfills.

We believe that responsible stewardship is the best defence against global warming and spiralling energy costs. We also believe that good stewardship and good business should go hand in hand.
